APCA Scholarship

The Alabama Pest Control Association Scholarship was established to support  APCA members’ children and their attendance at a college or university. 

This scholarship program is well-established and an integral part of APCA member services. 

Each year the Alabama Pest Control Association awards one or more scholarships to students whose parent or legal guardian is actively engaged in the pest control industry and is a current member of the APCA. These funds can be used to further the recipients’ education at the college or university of choice. Review the following information carefully to determine qualifications, then complete the application.

1. Completed application.

2. Copy of most recent official school transcript. 

3. Letter of school acceptance if entering freshman or changing schools.

PROCEDURE 

1. The Scholarship fund is administered by the APCA Executive Board.

2. The amount of scholarship to be determined by the funds available and the scholarship committee. As example, the quality of applicants and the amount of funds may warrant the awarding of more than one (1) scholarship in a given year. 

3. All funds are paid to the scholarship recipient and their parents in August. 

4. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: 

927 SAT OR 19 ACT 

3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average 

a. Parent or legal guardian must be presently employed and have been for at least three (3) years by a licensed pest control firm or firms which is an active or allied member, in good standing of the Alabama Pest Control Association, and has been for more than three years. 

b. Applicant must have been accepted to be a full time (14 hours either quarter or semester) undergraduate student at a college, university or technical college which has been accredited by the Association of Schools and Colleges. 

c. Have at least a 3.0 high school cumulative grade point average (equivalent to a B average) and a 927 SAT or 19 ACT score. 

5. The Scholarship shall be awarded in the following order of requirements: 

a) All eligibility requirements are met. 

b) Applicants who are entering freshmen. 

c) Applicants whose parents or legal guardian are full-time service technicians. (Where the parent or legal guardian holds a position that combines any two (2) or more positions, then the first position listed will be the one considered.) 

d) Applicants whose parents or legal guardian are full-time sales, office staff or in supervisory position. 

e) Applicants whose parents or legal guardians are managers or owners. 

f) Applicants with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 from high school, or if currently enrolled in a College or University, a 3.0 from that school, and meets all the eligibility requirements. 

g) The highest combined score on SAT. 

Application for the Alabama Pest Control Association Scholarship must be received by the Executive Director of the Alabama Pest Control Association on or before December 1st of the previous year in which the scholarship is awarded.
